How screening works
Each job can have one screening rule. When someone applies, RPM Talent checks their answers and profile against the rule and gives a score from 0 to 100. Each check you turn on carries a weight; the score is the share of weighted checks they passed.
| Result | What happens |
|---|---|
| Pass (at or above your threshold) | Moves to Screening. If auto-advance is on and you have Pro or Complete, the assessment goes out right away. |
| Flag (below threshold, set to flag) | Moves to Screening and lands in Needs review on the Candidates page. |
| Fail (below threshold, set to reject) | Moves to Rejected with the reason “Failed screening questions”. A polite email goes out if automatic rejection emails are on. |
Create a rule
- Open the job from Jobs (
/app/jobs) and go to its Auto-screening panel. - Expected answers: for each must-have question, pick the answer you need (for example, Yes for “Do you have your own tools?”) and a weight.
- Minimum years: the fewest years of experience you'll consider.
- Required certifications: for example ASE A5 Brakes or EPA 609.
- Maximum distance: miles from the shop's ZIP to the applicant's ZIP. If a ZIP can't be looked up, this check is skipped rather than failed.
- Threshold: start at 70.
- Below threshold: choose Flag for review while you're getting a feel for it. Switch to Reject once you trust the rule.
- Select Save rule.
Keep it fair
Job-related questions only
Screen only on job-related requirements you apply to everyone: licenses, certifications, tools, experience and schedule. Don't add questions about age, family, health, religion, national origin or anything else protected by law.
Every screening note is kept on the application, so you can always see exactly why someone was flagged or passed.
